A window's smashed — what do I do before the glazier comes?
Make it safe first: clear the loose glass you can safely reach, and tape cardboard or plastic over the opening. Then photograph the window, measure it roughly, and post — mention the frame type (timber or aluminium) and whether it's a ground-floor or upper window.
Will the replacement glass meet safety standards?
It has to — glass in doors, beside doors and in low windows must be safety glass (toughened or laminated) under Australian standards, and a glazier supplies glass rated for where it's going. Mention where the glass is and the glazier handles compliance.
I'm claiming this on insurance — does booking through HaT help?
The paper trail does: a written locked-price offer, in-app records of the work, and payment through the platform give you clean documentation for a claim. Check your insurer's process first — some want their own assessor before repairs.
