Do I need approval to remove a tree in Canberra?
Possibly. The ACT protects many trees over a certain size — removing or heavily pruning a regulated tree can require government approval, even on your own block. Check the ACT tree protection rules for your tree before booking a removal; a good tree crew will ask about approval too.
What photos actually help?
One showing the whole tree with something for scale (the house works), one of the trunk, and one showing what's around and under it — structures, fences, power lines. Where branches would have to be lowered matters as much as the tree's size for an honest price.
Why does insurance matter so much for tree work?

Does removal include the stump?
